When you’re stressed at work and have no immediate access to spa services, why not stop and smell the flowers? Aromatherapy is by far one of the simplest and yet most effective ways to relax the mind and uplift the emotions. It utilizes one of our most powerful senses, the sense of smell, which is directly connected to the olfactory nerve, the quickest passageway to the brain, and, thus, the limbic system responsible for the emotions. It is not only a simple and quick solution but convenient as well. Here are some suggestions:
*Add 8-15 drops of your favorite essential oils in a cold water diffuser and allow to diffuse while you are working.
*2-3 drops on hands and rub the hands together, cup over nose and inhale for a minute while creating peaceful imagery.
*2-3 drops on a cotton ball or tissue and put it in the car, a jacket pocket, etc.
*1-2 drops applied on temples and back of neck.
*A single drop under the nose.
*Make your own relaxing blend: 30 drops of essential oil + rose water in a 2 oz amber spray bottle or roll-on. Apply on neck and energy centers instead of perfume.
*Add 2-3 drops of essential oils to your daily skin care products.
*1 drop of essential oil on the tip of the nose and 1 on the third eye area between the eyes. Close your eyes and say your affirmations.
*Add your favorite essential oil(s) to a carrier oil (coconut, jojoba, sunflower, etc.) and carry in your bag in a 2 oz amber bottle. Great for quick shoulder, chest, and feet self-rub.
*Use a USB essential oils diffuser that plugs into your PC at work.
Recommended oils: Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Geranium, Bergamot, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Blue Spruce, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Palmarosa, Rose, Jasmine, Peppermint.
